Stick to your guns...get the rims replaced. The seven-year warranty is a good thing, regardless. One tranny issue, or something else, will pay for it. WildBill -GRROWL Print out this thread,,,,,,plus several others on this subject, and take along with you to the dealership. Call DC Customer Service and DC Zone Office for HELP. Last resort,,,,,,,,,,1-800-MIKE WALLACE Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to buy the extended warentee before the original warentee runs out. Like I don't think they will seel it to you after Monday period. Maybe someone else can comment on that, but if I'm right, you only have two days to pull this off. ------------------ I've done some plating on my own for my custom bikes, and I know that inside surfaces on parts tend to get very little deposit unless the electrodes being used are specifically designed to fit into the internal contours. My guess would be that the plater used a standard set of electrodes designed for a variety of wheels, or no internal electrodes at all. Another cause could be poor cleaning of the inside of the rims. It's odd that this is so common on Prowler wheels, since most aftermarket wheels don't seem to have the problem. Although the painted wheels don't look as nice as the chrome wheels, I'm glad I have them on my car. Kraut Might have been me. Wheels are specifically EXCLUDED under the Chrysler extended warrantee. -GRROWLCapitalCat Opinions wanted. My 3-year warranty expires next Monday. I brought my inside-pitted rim problem (not too severe)to the attention of my dealer service manager about a month ago. He, of course, blew me off and said he would call DC. And of course I haven't heard back. I've read and re-read the threads on pitted wheels, but it seems that there's been a 50-50 chance of getting stuck with refurbished, soon-to-pit rims again. My question is, do I live with what I have or go for the hard press? Possible leverage, is that I plan to purchase a 7-year warranty. MeanGene John, CapitalCat Thanks, Gene. I know you saw my rims at the Dulles show. The dealer also blew me off on that A-arm leak(?) you pointed out. They said it was "just dry, break-dust-like accumulation." WildBill quote:

See how he blows you off when you ask him to call DC from his phone... DC values their costumers & the services provided... They will contact him directly and remind him of the service he is suppose to provide. If he doesn't let you call them anyway. Explain the situation & problems you are having. By doing this you are making a record of it DC is aware & they might give you a little longer to work out the problem. The mags are $1000 a piece, so maybe that is a part of it... Going through the same with my mags... Got the OK to replace them though. I did get the six year warrantee when I bought my Kat brand new in 2000... Just be persistent & demand satisfaction, but remember to be kind & treat him with respect... I wouldn't want anyone pissed off while they were climbing around my Kat... We aren't driving Pintos you know!!!
Good Luck!GRROWL Koons Chevrolet/Chrysler, Vienna (Route 7, right off the Beltway) replaced 5 for me, no questions asked (pitting inside or out, bent, whatever). Never had a re-pitting problem. (I did buy the car there, so I don't know how they treat others). ALLEY CAT Capital - just replaced one front wheel two weeks ago,,,,same problem as yours'. No problem with dealership! Its not their money! whealy CapitalCat, CapitalCat You're right about that, Whealy. That's Why I say it's crunch time for me. But MeneGene, Grrowl, WildBill, AlleyCat and you have now given me the resolve to fight for what's right. Thanks! Kraut I don't know who supplied the wheels to Chrysler, but whoever it was seems to have done a really bad job of it. Judging by the discussion this topic brings, it seems like most of the original chrome wheels pit in short order. I also looked at a 2000 Prowler before buying my '97 and it had badly pitted rims on all four corners. fred2
Someone on this site told me once that the wheels are only covered for the initial 3 year Warranty period and are not covered by the Extended Warranty. Is this true??GRROWL quote:
